Katherine Heigl goes brunette – cool or fool?

Who says blondes have more fun?!

Everyone’s favourite vaguely-new bubbly blonde on the block, Katherine Heigl, has joined the dark side and gone brunette. Showcasing her new look at the premiere for The Ugly Truth, we think she looks a damn sight better than Scarlett Johannson’s hideous home-dye kit gone wrong look that we featured back in February and we love the wavy way it’s been styled.

We’re also big fans of her Lanvin frock, all romantic ruffles and drapes in an oh-so-flattering cappuccino froth colour complete with contrasting cream sash. The smoky eyes, nude lip combo is working a treat but what we’re not sold on are the coils of pearls doing their best to strangle her. They’re heaped on in such a quantity to make us think they must have been on buy-one-get-one-free. In fact, they remind us of that story you were told when you were little about the woman who always wore a massive choker round her neck when one day, after years of her husband asking her why she wore it, she removed it and her head rolled off. Errrr… let’s hope the same fate doesn’t befall Heigl, regardless of how many times she disses the show that made her a star, Grey’s Anatomy.

We think brunette really suits Heigl’s colouring, but let’s hope it’s not a marker of an attempt to prove ‘I’m a serious actress, me’ as we just love her in rom-coms way too much. And as for the thumbnail pic – well, who could resist a good tonguing from Gerard Butler, eh?!
