As people said, part of the reason will just be because you have not got much experience. You have to remeber though as well that there is probably ALOT of people applying for the same jobs as you... And alot of them probably have more experience etc.

You just need to keep trying and be as flexable as you can (eg.. not be fussy with what days and times you work etc) and eventually you will find something.

I've had the same job since I was 15, waitressing in a small hotel.

Basically the best way to get it is to have done work experience somewhere that looks decent, and it helps if you've done things like paper rounds (whcih I had, yay me!) so you have experience doing a job and a reference if they need it.

Obviously as a teen you aren't expected to have mountains of experience, but it does help if you have good GCSE grades and some sort of experience doing some sort of work!

Basically the best thing is it keep on trying. Places like supermarkets and high street chains (supermarkets especially, as they employ so many people!) are always looking for teen workers simply because they're cheap and generally need the money enough to be quite reliable! So keep handing in your CV whenever you can and stay optimistic. Something will turn up.

I would think that companies in general would think teens were LESS reliable as they DONT need the money. They dont have responsibilities (generally) such as mortgage, bills and children etc.

Ok Ok, shoot me for trying to give the guy some hope.
Sheesh.

And yes but we do like our going out money, don't we. Bearing in mind I was referring to crappy little shop jobs, I think it would be fair to say they're generally looking for cheap teen workers. But if you would like to dispute that then I wait to be corrected.

I know it's very hard for young people to find work, it took me 7 months to get my job, when I was 16.
