In school the other day we were discussing the impacts of violent video games and the negative affects they have on children and whether theres any link to real life violence, a couple of people were like yeah there is considering the stuff in the news you see nowadeys and the others were like no because video games dont control ppl,u control ppl in those games. i wanna know wot you lot fink do video games lead pepole to real life violence? post ur thoughts and opinions, and let me know

There is evidence to suggest that when children view acts of violence for which there appear to be no consequences they are more likley to copy the behaviour. (See bandura and Social Learning Theory.) and there have been numerous studies which have found correlations between television and agressive behaviour, however I dont think any were profoundly significant findings.

Video games are escapism, just like books.
You do them to escape from reality for personal enjoyment.
People who confuse reality and fantasy are morons who should be sectioned.

But you don't know whether they're mixing it until they've done something that suggests they are.
I, personally, don't believe that you can blame games or TV for violence. T'is but something to BLAME, as there HAS to be something to pin EVERYTHING on. Video games just happens to be one of them. And, even then, if the games were to blame t'isn't the manufacturers fault. It would be the parents for letting their children play these types of games in the first place.

yeah i agree ^^^ people just want to have something to blame that kind of violence on, its bullshit. Some people were just as sick before video games and the likes of marilyn manson.
