The much-anticipated (at teentoday.co.uk anyway) Leona Lewis sophomore album isn’t set for release until later this year but new tracks from the album have found their way onto the interwebs. Full songs Brave, Perfect Stranger, half complete Strangers, and a clip of I Got You, all thought to be from the new disc, have leaked. And we’ll be first to tell that they’re ruddy brilliant - demonstrating everything we loved about Leona - epic effortless vocals, great songwriting and dramatic key changes, but none of what we didn’t - saccharine schmaltzy songs with the sedative powers of 10 bumps of ketamine. I’m a big fan of the Black Eyed Peas – well, ever since big-lunged bit-barmy Fergie joined their ranks circa breakthrough album Elephunk (and let’s be honest, that was when most other people realised they existed too). Will.i.am, Fergie and the other two jump across genres with the randomness of a tipsy person attempting hopscotch on a pogo-stick; dance, r n’ b, hip-hop, pop, rap and much more are considered fair game, with the BEP somehow making it both look really easy and sound really great. However, The E.N.D sees them go all Daft Punk on us, sticking to the beepy bleepy electro of lead single Boom Boom Pow throughout.

At Teentoday towers, we have been patiently twiddling our thumbs awaiting the obligatory smash hit of the summer. Well… we might just have found it. Rather than the usual claptrap from some Europop DJ, Sweden’s Le Kid have delivered what sounds suspiciously like the goods in the form of Mercy Mercy. The group section for the X-Factor has always yielded slightly unconvincing results (we may have loved Same Difference but it’s obvious our love wasn’t shared by many over the age of 12) but last year’s JLS are looking to be the exception that prove the rule. Their first single, Beat Again, is out on 13 July – and first singles from reality show contestants really aren’t meant to be this good! Click see more to check it out.

Sometimes in life, it’s the simple things that matter. A smile or the sun shining or Hallmark card-y stuff like that. The same is true for music – not all songs have to be life-changing or rule-breaking, edgy or avant-garde. Instead, they just have to be very good and Ashley Tisdale’s second album, Guilty Pleasure, is just that.

Amsterdam sex show. The Dolly Rockers live.
The electroqueer showcase and club night at The Underbelly in London’s Hoxton Square brings together the best of new electronic music to an eager crowd of tanked up gays. After our declarations of love last week, we decided to watch the Dolly Rockers live - and see if their personal brand of drunk disco and shambolic performance worked live - and we were not disappointed.
