The winners are… Elsiebelle Necklaces (P.S still lush!)

*The entries have been counted, verified and laughed over (freakish numbers of people seem to think they will win by not answering the question – if we wanted to just give away stuff with absolutely no effort required, why we would we bother putting a question?!) and I’m pleased to announce the winners of our Elsiebelle competition. Just before I do, your style icons made for interesting reading – woman of the moment Cheryl Cole strutted off with about 20% of the vote (4x as much as her nearest competitors Fearne Cotton and Kate Moss), wooden spoon entry was a last-minute vote for Jedward (it was the shiny red leather suits, I assume) and there was a severe wtf moment in the form of William Shakespeare. But onto the winners and congrats to...*
Gwen Stefani – Jade C, Cheshire
Missy Higgins – Catherine M, Hertfordshire
A mix of Kimberley Walsh & Cheryl Cole – Gemma T, Falkirk
Olivia Palermo – Claire N, Cheshire
Rachel Bilson – Clare W, Sheffield
Blake Lively – Emily W, Glasgow
Zooey Deschanel – Libby M, USA
Lady Gaga ‘Wish I had the balls (metaphorical) to pull it off’ – Ashleigh M, Norwich (we’re pleased those balls are metaphorical btw!)
We found ourselves wandering in Topshop’s jewellery section the other day – and you know what? We were pretty disappointed. Far too much of it looked cheaper than its actual cost (of course, now we’ve said this, we’ve just gone to look on their website and seen about five things we love but never mind…) and these days, every Tom, Dick and Debbie is seen sporting a Topshop pendant. Frankly, we needed some inspiration – and along it came in the form of an email from the lovely folk at http://www.elsiebelle.com. Elsiebelle’s range of jewellery is nothing short of delightful; cute, quirky, vintage, lovely and that little bit out of the ordinary, they’re certainly ticking all our boxes (much to the distress of our bank accounts). And they’ve gone up even more in our estimation given that they’ve agreed to give some of their finest necklaces away to you, for free.
We’ve managed to snag eight for you and dare we say so ourselves, we feel we’ve chosen well. The above picture shows Gingerbread Boy (£8.95), Snip Snip (£11.95), Littlest Love Letter (£14.95) and Silver Anchor (£7.95). I actually fell so in love with Littlest Love Letter (over the fact that it opens and a little letter engraved with ‘I Love You’ pops out! How lush is that?!) that I made Teentoday boyfriend fork out to buy it for my birthday present – and after just one day of wear, I’ve already received dozens of compliments, many admiring looks and crowds clamouring to open my envelope (and no, that isn’t some sexual innuendo… well, I hope not anyway). Silver Anchor would be the perfect accessory to this season’s must-have Breton-striped tops whilst I can’t get over the genius of sticking an adorable pair of scissors on a necklace (and I never thought I’d be using the word adorable in conjunction with the word scissors).
We’ve also got Come Fly With Me (£13.95), Fly Away (£16.95), Sugar Lump (£10.95) and La Licorne Cameo (£13.95), shown below. Everyone that’s anyone has been spotted wearing cameo necklaces this season and this one, in a romantic pink colour with a unicorn design, is as dreamy as they come. Meanwhile, Sugar Lump reminds us of that cool necklace that Alexa Chung often sports (allegedly a present from her Arctic Monkey boyf) and we’ve pretty much run out of synonyms for “lovely” yet if you can think of anymore, you could use them for Come Fly With Me and Fly Away (we particularly love the flower detail though).
And these eight are just the tip of the iceberg as Elsiebelle’s full range includes more necklaces, earrings and rings then you’d find in the Queen’s jewellery box (…maybe). What’s more, they’re all ultra-affordable, come gift-boxed with care instructions and postage and packing is cheaper than the bus fare to/parking fee in town. So if you can’t wait to see if you’re a winner or have spotted that special something that isn’t in the comp, why not delve into those pockets and do your bit to support independent shops that offer something different to High Street homogenisation (we did!).
Preaching over, all you’ve gotta do to be in with a shot of winning one of the eight necklaces is tell us who your style icon is and fill out the form below. Easy as that.
