Is VV Brown vv good?

Ever since Amy Winehouse did the 60s soul thing and sold by the bucket-load, every Tom, Dick and Duffy has been hauling themselves onto the bandwagon. But we’ve found someone we think might be the real deal – V V Brown, who’s even got the bizarre 60s hairdo to back it up.
Brown has sung backing vocals for the PCDs and co-wrote one of their best songs (I Don’t Need A Man), as well as having a hand in the Sugababes’ Denial. But now after one abortive attempt at a solo career under real name Vanessa, she’s striking out on her own and her single, Crying Blood, has got us bopping round the block as it sounds like the best bits of Outkast’s Hey Ya, 60s graveyard smash the Monster Mash (you’ve probably heard it at a Hallowe’en party at some point) and doo-wop girl bands of yore. What’s more, we’re a bit in love with the nifty video (watch it below), which features a morph into cartoon, old-school Nintendo noises, a slightly ridiculous dance routine and a cute dog. But what do you think – shit or hit? Let us know.
P.S. Island Records, we would quite like a copy of her album sampler please.

What do you think of VV Brown's single?
