The Time Traveller’s Wife trailer has finally arrived!

The film version of The Time Traveller’s Wife has been stuck in post-production hell for a long time despite, at one stage, being one of the most hotly-anticipated films in ages. Generally, sitting on studio’s shelves for extensive tinkering and pushed-back release dates means the film will be crap. The trailer has finally emerged (another slightly worrying factor given it’s out on August 14) and has done nothing to suggest it won’t be a little bit rubbish. But don’t take our word for it - click see more to check out the trailer and some stills for yourself.
Everyone and their aunt seemed to love the Audrey Niffenger book on which The Time Traveller’s Wife is based. Not me, however. Slushy, schmaltzy and sentimental, I thought it was massively over-hyped– a Mills & Boon with delusions of grandeur (plus isn’t there something slightly dodge about Henry falling in love with Claire when she’s a child?). Well, the trailer looks just as slushy, schmaltzy and sentimental so I guess it’s pretty faithful to the book.
The preview does underline one of my major quibbles with the novel though – the fact that nothing much actually seems to happen, bar having a husband who keeps disappearing and reappearing throughout your life. Decidedly thin on plot, it looks like the film will have to rely on the chemistry and charisma of the couple; good job then that Claire and Henry are played by the ever-reliable and generally-fabulous Rachel McAdams (love her) and Eric Bana. And you know what? However cynical I may be, I just know it will make me cry. Fact.

Will you go see The Time Traveller's Wife?

Trailer looks ok-bit weird having your man literally disappearing on you! Think I’ll wait for the dvd so I can have a blub in peace-bit embarrassing in the cinema! Strange idea for a film-is it genetic, will their little girl disappear through time too?!

Yeah it is genetic, but she has more control about where she goes. It’s an amazing book, Audery Niffeneger is very talented. He doesn’t fall in love with her when she’s a little girl, the first time he meets her is when he’s 28 and she’s 20, in his thrities when they’re married he visits her past and she meets him for the first time. It’s confusing but written in an understandable and poetic way. The book is fabulous and I throughly look forward to the film
