What do you think: is it okay for teens to go under the knife?
A recent survey reported 40% of 14/15 year olds have considered plastic surgery. For young teenagers surgery can only be approved with a G.P. referral and parental approval. Typically, teens under 16 having nose jobs or boob jobs do so because they have self-image issues which their G.P. feels are causing real emotional issues.
In extreme cases, the teenager may be being bullied or picked on because of their outsized breasts or nose. Do you think that it’s okay for young people to go under the knife? What’s your take on it?

I would never want plastic surgery, i like the way i am but now & then i have down thoughts about the way i look but in the end thats the way i am & the way i look, i wouldnt get plastic surgery to change what i look like for anyone

plastic surgery? if u’ve got a problem with your body (fatty parts) then u should get off ur ass and run it off. and ur face is what ur parents gave you. thats a combination of ALL ur relatives/ancestors. saying ur ugly is saying that one of them was ugly. i haven’t ever thought of getting plastic surgery cause its a total waste of money...i’d rather give it to someone who can’t see

I used to want to have a nose job, and I’m only 14!! But what’s the point?! i’ll get that fixed and then find something else about myself that i don’t like! no one will ever be 100% happy with the way they look, because we’re only human! confidence is the key so if you focus on the things you like about yourself (and don’t say there’s nothing you like about yourself!), rather than focusing on the things you dislike then other people will start focusing on those things too!! don’t try and change the way you look, it’s not worth it!!

I think that the very idea of someone under the age of 25 going under the knife unless they are forced to for a serious medical condition is repulsive and should not be allowed as it enforces the idea that someone can be perfect and should be perfect but this is both impossible and untrue !!!

I’ve just had a massive fight with my mum and been crying my eyes out all day because i feel so ugly + fat! I’ve tried to diet, exersice and starve myself but i still feel fat. Ive had every single beauty treatment you could imagine and my mums spent hundreds on make up + hair products but i still have 0 confidence. I’m only 14. People can say its shallow or selfish but at the end of the day you really do not understand how upsetting it is to hate yourself and battle with the mirror every single day! I havnt been to skool for over 10 months because i cant face going outside, everyone says i’m pretty but it doesnt matter what anyone else thinks because i dont feel it myself, i’m going to the doctors next week and i’m actually praying to god its possible to have plastic surgery at my age. Its the only option for me i’ve tried everything else. I want a boob job, tummy tuck, lipo suction and a nose job. I dont care if i’m in pain it cant be worse than how i feel everyday wen i look in the mirror!

im not the thinest of girls ! and sure im not the prettiest , but why waste what you look like to get that done ! and tbh i think people will just laugh anyway ! it looks hideous and you might not like it ! sure its ok for celebs to get it done as they have thousends of pounds stashed away ! but as i sed im not the skinniest but i dont think id want all those scars , just to be thin when dieting is a last resort for me ! not plastic surgery ! and really !!!!! your just plastic , ae ?

I am definately considering platics surgery. i hate the way i look,and im constantly upset about it and when i get the money im going for it! some people say its bad or disgusting but if it makes a person feel happier about themselves people should learn to accept that its not such a bad thing.

Well, maybe a tattoo or a piercing, but I’d never go for anything conventional or as a result of peer or media pressure like a boob job, liposuction, etc, etc. Power to the people!

most of my friends are thinner than me and i feel so insecure,,
im not like massive but i still feel fat compared to them
but there is other ways to get thinner than have plastic surgery
i did dancing all my life,, while i was there i was noticing the weight coming off me
about 7 months ago i quit and i have noticed the weight piling back on so i am starting dancing again and eating healthier,,
just try and be healthy dont make yourself look fake

Never, and celebs that get plastic surgery are such bad role models for younger girls and older ones. I hate how girls are put under so much pressure to look good, natural beauty is sooo much better girls, when are you all gonna get that through too yourself. Im 5ft 3 and weigh 8 stone im about size 10.I am not fat i think that I have a nice body shape well i could do with losing a few pounds.but i luv my junk food and chocolate so i prob wouldent lose anything!! lol
but i have glasses and i feel really ugly.My hair neva behaves and i feel like ripping it out.I have a narrow nose and my nostrils stick out a bit.Apart from that im ok i think....
i can get really low sumtimes tho but would neva consider plastic surgery i would prob just find another part of me to hate!lol

i don’t think its about totally changing the way you look - just making the best of what you’ve got.
So your boobs aren’t big enough? Get a padded/push up bra, or just wear a top that flatters them nicely.
You hate your skin ‘cause it’s spotty? Get into a good cleansing routine (besides it will probs be a teenage phase chances are you’ll grow out of it) or say you think your legs look fat - then eat healthier and tone them up, and whilst you’re doing all this, wear some jeans/trousers that make your legs look skinnier! (black skinnies do the trick for me.. it’s not just skinnny girls that can wear skinnies… in fact curvier girls look better in them cause with skinny girls they just have no shape
There are other ways to change your body… and you get no risks =]

i think plastic surgery is way too heavy for young minds..im not thin nor too fat but i will do exercise or take unsaturated daily product.i believe Natural is Beauty

im fat, im ugly, but the only way i would change that is dieting naturally, although i do want a breast reduction, im 14 and i have 36 E’s and i hate them, theyre heavy, they get in the way and people grab them in the school corridor and shout ‘BIG TITS’ i hate them, but i dont like the thought of going under the knife, im thinking about it though

To be honest with you all what the point in going under the knife lol makes me laugh, you yourself get over it. Back in the 1900’s women dint go under tha knife to make themselves ‘different’. God sake if you ugly and fat get over it. Im proud of my size 10 figure and my face is quite nice tbf everything within the right proportion, i hate my small boobs though they are a 34c but get me down alot i would never consider surgery though more important fings to spend my money on plus my boyfriend loves my boobs the way they are!!

People like 12 or 13 years old shouldnt have plastic surgery except if they cant do anyting else. if girls arent happy with their boobs at that age its stupid cause it will grow later! and its not only this part of the body that is important for the guys. i think your personality is more important and you dont need to have big boobs to make the guys love you!

I’m 13, i have been pregnant which i know is very wrong but i have suffered, i had a ectopic pregnacy, which caused me to have emergency surgery. I’m now left with scars. I tried to go back to school but i got bullied, this is because my cousin had told the whole school about this. I’m left lounging around eating because i’m depressed. Therefore i have become over weight. So in the future i would concider plastic surgury, to get rid of my scares, liposuction and a boob job. I do have a partener who has been with me through all of this. He thinks im pretty and have a lovely figure. I Don’t belive that one bit. I Also got bullied for being ugly and fat, i also got bullied for going out with as older boy, he is a year older than me at school but does look older. My mum and dad aprove of him. That makes me happy. Also what make me happy is i shared all of this with my mum before i told anyone else. So for all the young girls like me, the best person to talk to is your mum, she may get angry with sertainly never shout everything out. Everyone says i have a best friend. You may have a best friend, but you true best mate is your mum. Take my advice girls

I dont think that You should have plastic surgery because everyone is beutiful in their own way so why go and ruin ur natural look in something fake and something that can go wrong and can hurt for ages and ages! I am not that good looking but i definently 100% would not choose plastic surgry and apart from that I love my chocolate too much !!!!!

God gave you that face and body, so just deal with it. Theres a very good reason why you look the way you do. I read the one where the gurl is 16 and want breast implants! Wtf?! IM 16 and I have C cups and I dont want them! Im perfectly fine with B cups cause then I would know that everyones looking at my face not down my shirt. Gosh, stupid people. Plastic surgery is discusting.

i think some people are getting it all wrong. yes i agree that some people do take advantage of plastic surgery but it is hard to come to terms with the way you look when you look in the mirror and are not happy with what you see!
Its hard for people to just ‘deal with it’ and to ‘deal with your face’ because if your not happy with your face, why should u live for the rest of your life being unhappy!!
I wish people took this into account and try to put themselves in other peoples shoes.
