What do you think: is it okay for teens to go under the knife?
A recent survey reported 40% of 14/15 year olds have considered plastic surgery. For young teenagers surgery can only be approved with a G.P. referral and parental approval. Typically, teens under 16 having nose jobs or boob jobs do so because they have self-image issues which their G.P. feels are causing real emotional issues.
In extreme cases, the teenager may be being bullied or picked on because of their outsized breasts or nose. Do you think that it’s okay for young people to go under the knife? What’s your take on it?

I’d never do, I think I’m beautiful. I always feel bad saying that but I love my body and face. I always feel confident when I go out. My boyfriend says I can be arrogant but says that he loves my wobbly bits as much as I do x

I had plastic surgery at the age of 12 but only because i had been bullied for 2 years. But i would never have it done again it was the worst experiance of my life. X

I would never want plastic surgery, i like the way i am but now & then i have down thoughts about the way i look but in the end thats the way i am & the way i look, i wouldnt get plastic surgery to change what i look like for anyone

plastic surgery? if u’ve got a problem with your body (fatty parts) then u should get off ur ass and run it off. and ur face is what ur parents gave you. thats a combination of ALL ur relatives/ancestors. saying ur ugly is saying that one of them was ugly. i haven’t ever thought of getting plastic surgery cause its a total waste of money...i’d rather give it to someone who can’t see

I think it is never a gd idea 2 get plastic surgery becuz ur just taking away wat u rlly look like and ur jst being fake u shud be happy wiv ur body and the way u look plastic surgery can go wrong nd is pointless becuz in the end u just come out as sum1 ur not

I used to want to have a nose job, and I’m only 14!! But what’s the point?! i’ll get that fixed and then find something else about myself that i don’t like! no one will ever be 100% happy with the way they look, because we’re only human! confidence is the key so if you focus on the things you like about yourself (and don’t say there’s nothing you like about yourself!), rather than focusing on the things you dislike then other people will start focusing on those things too!! don’t try and change the way you look, it’s not worth it!!

I think that the very idea of someone under the age of 25 going under the knife unless they are forced to for a serious medical condition is repulsive and should not be allowed as it enforces the idea that someone can be perfect and should be perfect but this is both impossible and untrue !!!

I’ve just had a massive fight with my mum and been crying my eyes out all day because i feel so ugly + fat! I’ve tried to diet, exersice and starve myself but i still feel fat. Ive had every single beauty treatment you could imagine and my mums spent hundreds on make up + hair products but i still have 0 confidence. I’m only 14. People can say its shallow or selfish but at the end of the day you really do not understand how upsetting it is to hate yourself and battle with the mirror every single day! I havnt been to skool for over 10 months because i cant face going outside, everyone says i’m pretty but it doesnt matter what anyone else thinks because i dont feel it myself, i’m going to the doctors next week and i’m actually praying to god its possible to have plastic surgery at my age. Its the only option for me i’ve tried everything else. I want a boob job, tummy tuck, lipo suction and a nose job. I dont care if i’m in pain it cant be worse than how i feel everyday wen i look in the mirror!

im not the thinest of girls ! and sure im not the prettiest , but why waste what you look like to get that done ! and tbh i think people will just laugh anyway ! it looks hideous and you might not like it ! sure its ok for celebs to get it done as they have thousends of pounds stashed away ! but as i sed im not the skinniest but i dont think id want all those scars , just to be thin when dieting is a last resort for me ! not plastic surgery ! and really !!!!! your just plastic , ae ?

I am definately considering platics surgery. i hate the way i look,and im constantly upset about it and when i get the money im going for it! some people say its bad or disgusting but if it makes a person feel happier about themselves people should learn to accept that its not such a bad thing.

Well, maybe a tattoo or a piercing, but I’d never go for anything conventional or as a result of peer or media pressure like a boob job, liposuction, etc, etc. Power to the people!
