Deleted from facebook - Dear troubled teen part 2

In an uncharacteristic display of productivity we’ve decided to post part 2 of our Dear troubled teen series straight after part 1. Hit “see more” to see a much-loved TT user bantered for their mind-numbing status updates on Facebook.

Hey I’m 14 and my “friend” has deletd me as one of her list of the people she is gd friends with on facebook. She has taken me off that list but kept on people she has only just made friends with.

None of my friends actually listen to anything I say!

Any Advice?

Dear troubled teen,

Do you spend the majority of you time on Facebook playing Farmville? Or updating your status so frequently that all your friends now know everything there is about you, other than including your next bowel movement?

Because perhaps your former ‘good’ friend isn’t interested that you’ve just discovered some white mystery eggs or that you require two more nails to construct your horse stable. And if this is the case, then your friend could be close to deleting you from their friend list entirely.

(We have to admit that we have be known to cull friends for these Facebook faux pas, and on more than one occasion - sorry Caroline and Louise).

But taking a more serious approach and putting Farmville aside (where it belongs), here at teentoday.co.uk we believe that loyalty is one of the most important qualities in a friendship. In fact, a true friendship can’t possibly function without it. And it sounds to us that this supposed friend that you speak of is seriously lacking it.

So we suggest broadening your own friendship horizon and spending more time with those who not only listen but also respect and consider your opinions.

Besides, she’ll probably be dropping her new ‘good’ friends and adding you again by this time next week.

Don’t forget you can leave advice in the comments below. And send us your teen advice problem too.

Have you ever deleted someone from Facebook? Why? Can you explain the inexplicable success of Farmville to us?

I’d say, if someone deleted you from your friends list on Facebook, the most logical thing to do would be to give them a text or call - don’t leave things, this will just make it worse as your mind goes over all the reasons as to why your friend might have done this.

No, it’s definitely best to be straight and honest with them, ask them what’s up, if they have a problem with you. If they’re a good person they should be honest in return and the hope is that you’ll be able to sort things out. And well, if they don’t reply or skirt around the issue, you have to question how much you would be able to trust this person in the future. It’s little things like this that add up to your judgement of a person as a whole.

And as for Farmville, although it’s kinda lost its appeal for me now and i don’t play it anymore - i used to be obsessed. I guess its charm is the same as so many games nowadays, that it revolves around an XP (experience points)/Level based system. Thus, you are always working towards a goal, and when that goal is achieved, there is another. This way, the game maintains its appeal for a long time. Another aspect is that if a large number of your friends also play it, there’s that added aspect of social interaction and competitiveness.

I wouldn’t say this was a big deal: afterall, it is only facebook.
Just continue life as normal, friends and friend groups do shuffle every-so-often, as I have found out many-atime.
