Popjustice Compilation Review

The world’s best website (other than
teentoday.co.uk, of course) releases the world’s best
compilation. It’s as simple as that.
If you’ve actually bothered to read past that all-encompassing
first sentence, the Popjustice compilation features 22 pure
pop tracks in a continuous mix by DJ McSleazy, with the result
being a ruthless relentless assault on the ears.
Popjustice titans Girls Aloud contribute the original demo of
Love Machine, composed of completely different lyrics
(and not even the words ‘love machine!) thus sounding a blend
between both the brilliant and bizarre, as well as a final
four-minute Biology extravaganza.
Whilst there are remixes of The Automatic, The Killers and
Kelly Clarkson that transform familiar songs into near
dance-classics, it’s also great to hear lesser-known artists,
for whom Popjustice is so often the benevolent champion of –
Client’s Lights Go Out and Stefy’s Chelsea are
both sultry sexy electropop jewels and Annie’s frothy fondant
of a song, Me Plus One, is just delicious.
All this, however, makes the un-tweaked and rather old hat
Britney, Rachel Stevens and Franz Ferdinand tracks stick out
like a sore thumb.
So turn this CD up loud as it’s perfect for cruising
with your windows down and dancing around your bedroom with
you underwear on – or is that just me?!
