A Brokedown Melody
Review

A collection of surfer lullabies, for your more
mellow/semi-conscious moments, it’s hard to get exactly
excited about A Brokedown Melody, especially since I’ve
never even heard of the film, let alone seen it (though I
gather it has something to do with surfing).
The album rolls along pleasantly enough, with the feel of
singing around a campfire. It’s probably the perfect
soundtrack to relaxing – apart from Eddie Vedder’s Goodbye,
which sound quite frankly horrible, primarily because it
doesn’t sound in tune. Things do perk up rather inevitably for
Jack Johnson’s dreamy and rather lovely contributions but
overall, the tracks simply wash over you. Which is no bad
thing if that’s your cup of tea. Sadly, it’s not mine. In
fact, it just made me want to listen to my Jack Johnson album.
