Britney faces hit-and-run charge
According to the Los Angeles City Attorney’s office, the singer hit a parked car on or about Aug. 6 in the San Fernando Valley without leaving a note for the driver of the other vehicle or filing a police report. The incident was caught on video widely available on the Internet.
If convicted, the singer could face up to six months in jail and a 1,000 U.S. dollar fine for each count, said Nick Velasquez, spokesman for the city attorney’s office.
The owner of the hitten vehicle, Kim Robard-Rifkin, filed a police report three days after the accident, and investigators later determined that Spears does not have a license, officials said.
Robard-Rifkin said she was “sort of amused and sort of shocked” when she learned Spears was the source of her car’s damage through a video posted on the Internet.
“I simply want my car fixed, the same as I would fix somebody’s car if I had done that,” Robard-Rifkin said in August.
A hearing, which Spears does not have to attend because the charges are misdemeanors, is set for Oct. 10.
The case comes days after a court commissioner ordered her to undergo random drug and alcohol testing twice a week in her child custody dispute with ex-husband Kevin Federline.
Her management firm also recently dropped her, and her performance at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards was widely panned.

Wow. So, I think it’s safe to assume Britney is need of some serious therapy. While I feel bad that she must go through some of the things she goes through in her life, I mustn’t feel too bad, because she is the one who became a celebrity. She must have known it couldn’t be easy.
